Glogster Book Report

You've seen the traditional book report.  You've heard the accompanying groans of students upon assigning such an important project.  This time, let your students create a multimedia poster "book report" through Edu.Glogster.com.

I did this project with fourth grade students who were eager to share with me their progress and beg--yes, literally--me to set aside time for Glogsters during some part of the day.



Aside from the usual requirements--Title, Author, Setting, Main Characters, and Summary-- I had students write an About the Author section, create a Text-to-Self Connection section, record a persuasive video review, and illustrate the main character(s) using the Get-in-My-Head Thought Collage format.

It seems like a lot, but it doesn't take long for students to come up with their own interpretations of the book and its characters.  I purchased the least expensive teacher account for $25 and set up each student with their own nickname and password.  In order for students to receive their login information, they had to complete a draft of the content and draw their illustration.

This website it so user-friendly that a lesson on how to use Glogster may not even be necessary.  I did a quick overview of how to upload images and videos, as well as how to create links to external websites (bonus points).  The fourth grade students had a great time sharing information while expressing themselves on this fun book report project!
